Why We Walk

The Walking Breakfast™ Movement, paired with the S7-Bowling™ Movement, helps us help the neighbors we meet right on the streets where we live to be the kind of community development leaders we need — so that, together, we can walk, work, and bowl our way toward the big, bright, beautiful tomorrow we all want our city — and world — to become.

This guide exists to make that sentence real.

The Walking Breakfast™ is a human-scale, lawful, repeatable practice of mercy-in-motion.

It is:

• relational, not transactional

• decentralized, not centralized

• sustainable, not heroic

• joyful, not grim

It is not a soup kitchen, a shelter, or a case-management program.

Those matter—but this is something different.

This is coverage, not control.

Why Walking Matters (The Scale of the Need)

In Las Vegas, on any given night, ~9,000 people are unhoused and will wake up hungry the next morning.

This is not a failure of compassion.

It is a failure of reach.

No single building, program, or agency can meet people where they actually wake up.

Walker Pairs: How Mercy Actually Works

Walkers never work alone:

• Walkers move in pairs

• One watches the cart when the other steps away

• One listens while the other handles logistics

This isn’t symbolism.

A walker pair can reliably provide ~100 breakfasts per day.

To cover the field responsibly in Las Vegas we need:

• A small push or folding cart

And yes—

everyone you meet gets a cookie.
