This piece comes to us from the Chicago World's Fair... first heard around the turn of the 20th Century as folks entered the gates of The Fair. So, we are using this as our primary Golywogs Cakewalk while you continue to find your seats.
Also known as The American Quartet, this masterwork was never performed at The Fair, because the venue could not be completed (a lot about contracting to build big buildings quickly hasn't changed in the last hundred years or so)... so we are offering it to you as part of your show-going enjoyment. Once we get closer to production, we'll make the decision of playing a recorded version for you, or having a resident quarted play it live at every performance.
Once our GoFundMe Campaign is fully funded, we can recruit a live quartet for this part of our dinner music.
This is a wonderful number from Paul Simon's very recent, and we hope not last album: Seven Psalms. Essentially this whole album is Mr. Simon's prayer of thanksgiving for finding a sound engineer that gave him the ability to hear himself inside his music again... and by this noble act of sonority... we are ALL blessed! Therefore, this number both queues our cast that the main part of the show is about to begin, and helps us set the mood of thankfulness for what is soon to come.
The 4EVER! Experience is all about bringing the prayer, and the power of The Rosary (The Prayer of The Holy Queen of Grace) into our Modern frame of existence, so that when we go back home, we might be reminded, and encouraged to HELP MERCY ABOUND TO THE MAX... through whomever we may meet, by whatever we may do, wherever we may go.
So... we follow the outline of a single Rosary prayer cycle, and build all FIVE Mystery Sequences into a GRAND ROSARY CYCLE comprising all 25 Mysteries of Mercy for our Play of Joy... BINGO card style. (Because that's what St. Gabriel really said when he greeted Kecharitomene, Our Holy Mary, the first time... Kaire... Victory... BINGO... YOU HAVE ALREADY WON!... Hail to you, Kecharitomene, The Holy Queen of Grace! That's why she was so befuddled by the greeting, because she really just saw herself as Mary of Nazareth, espoused to Old Joe of Nazareth, because they were the last of the last of the line of Jesse.)
Therefore, our Show of Mercy starts where The Prayer of The Holy Rosary always starts... At the CREDO... meaning... "I BELIVE"...

Oh... and the resouce at that link also explains why we have five Mystery sequences in our Rosary, and 25 individual Mysteries in our play... the short version is that we include the Five Glimmering Jewish Mysteries of Mercy that align with the other four sequences, in ascending order: The Joyful, Luminous, Sorrowful, and Glorious Mysteries. Which we organize on our playfully joyful BINGO card as follows:
G1 - G3 - G5 - G4 - G2
S1 - S3 - S5 - S4 - S2
L1 - L3 - L5 - L4 - L2
J1 - J3 - J5 - J4 - J2

Which puts The Institution of the Eucharist (L5) right in the center... on the FREE GIFT OF GRACE SPACE... which we think is the coolest thing of all!
(The first five images in our scroll above are the gJLSG sequence that sets the frame for the GRAND PRAYER of MERCY we offer you every time we put on our show.)
This begins the "Cord of Mercy" that tethers us like a guy-wire into The Rosary, and (normally) each of the 10 Hail Mary repetitions for each Mystery in each Mystery Sequence would end with both the "Glory Be" the "O My Jesus" prayer and one more "Our Father" to get the next Mystery going.. We are only going to do this once, and we won't be doing 10 Hail Mary prayers each Mystery either... otherwise our Seder Prayer will never end, because that would be like sitting on the Afikomen all night. To keep the through line of the plot of Mercy clearly visible, we will be ramping up one Hail Mary all the way through our show from it's bare bones beginning, to its full fledged glory both to preserve the power of the 50 Hail Mary repetitions (53 if you count the guy-wire intro), and the repetition of the Glory Be & O My Jesus... because these two numbers are inherently included in the build from Glimmering (g) to Glory (G) in a way that is just as powerful.
This particular pre-show marker attempts to capture the same introductory mood as our yet to be published pair of songs that not only introduce Our Eternally Door Knocking Holy Queen of Grace with "Mercy Has No End", but also ask our primary dramatic question with "Can You Catch Eternity in a Raindrop?" The two questions are very similar, and we hope the effect our version will be just as magical as Sr. Elton's musical question was for The Lion King.
The two numbers that will live a bit further below, once they are published.. will represent the Hail Mary of Faith, and the Hail Mary of Hope (cf 1 Cor. 13 and you will find what the next number represents... the Hail Mary of Charity (aka... MERCY) 4EVER! And there you have the reason for why we have named our Fantabulous Grand Cycle of Prayer as we have.
This is another placeholder that was used for the opening credits of Fátima, a movie that attempts to both capture what actually happened on those shepherded hills of Portugal during WWI, and what it means to be a "seer" in our world where we are all too behave as if we were all just the blind leading the blind. This is our recurring theme song that builds as we go along, and marks our passage from one Mystery sequence to the next, AND... is a melody that came to me from Heaven while I slept from the fatigue of praying one night. This is one of the points in my life, when I have been given the gift of either seeing, or hearing something I would never have otherwise heard, but for a glimmer of Grace bestowed on my by Our Holy Queen of Heaven... the prayer of whom we perform in the context of our playful dance we call the 4EVER! Experience... an experience of which you are now an integral part... just by reading along.
The number we will be placing here, once we record & release it publicly, will most likely be called, "Hail Mary, The Queen of Grace."
When we pray The Rosary, the Our Father (AKA The Lord's Prayer) comes right after the CREDO.. and we are not messing with that order. Not that, "Thy will be done..." is echoed in Holy Mary's Fiat of Faith... "Let it be done unto me as thou has said." So... this serves as a wonderful introduction to Our Lady... as well as another frame for The Grand Prayer of the Holy Rosary in general... but perhaps that's a discussion better left for another day.)

We announce our show with trumpets, just as God announced his coming as Mercy in the Flesh into this world, and we use Bernstein's magical, brassy hymn that transforms each and every one of us into a hero in our own backyard, right on the streets where we live when we simply heed it's trumpet call to making the glorious dream of Grace and Mercy and Peace come true wherever we may go... 4EVER!

From here, we make our way through the Rosary from Bottom to Top as we take you on a fabulous story telling journey filled with the kind of sight, song, and dance designed to help you understand the greatest story ever told in a way that will help you take it home and make it real among your neighbors when you get to where it is that you call home, because when Meaning, Mercy, and Mirth sit down at the same table to take in a show, the world gets fed... 4EVER!
From Thank You Even Hanson... this number represents the mood of the First Glimmering Mystery... Restoring Us to the Dignity of Mercy as do the words of Gen 3:21... And while they tarried yet in Eden [after they were cursed, but before they were sent out to live out that curse] The Lord God made for them [Adam & Eve] clothes of animal skins.
This is the Faith of Abram... which as St. Paul the Apostle writes was "credited to him as righteousness" before he was renamed Abraham... when he saved the men of Sodom & Gamorrah even though they were known to be notoriously evil... as we are told in the verses immediately preceding the story of Abram's valiant rescue of his most troublesome neighbors.
This masterwork recapitulates the Laughter of Mercy that is found in the Midst of the Giving of the Law, because it captures not only the joy of being freed from the slavery of Egypt, but also the Ultimate Happiness of being given the Manna of Forgiveness & the Quail of Grace in the Midst of the Desert of The Law... therefore Ashira! I Shall Sing! rings through the hope that this medley, and the Remembering of The Manna (cf Mystery L5) brings.
We were going to use the "in me" version from Toy Story... but this earlier version captures the quiet joy of having a long-term, multi-generational fried like Solomon found in Hiram, King of Lebanon.
This brings us from the origin of The First Temple of Israel, to the celebration of the miraculous reclaiming & reparation of The Second Temple (aka... Hanukkah)... the Temple into which Jesus was taken by Mary & Joseph for his bris, and was later found "doing the work of My Father in Heaven" after three days of frantic & completely unnecessary searching by these same relatively clueless parental duo elsewhere. Sometimes, even the most chosen, the closest to the Miracles of Mercy, and the most miraculous seers of Angles don't really understand what they are supposed to at first. Sometimes, they have to spend another 17 years, or so living with them to treasure them properly in their hearts... and sometimes, like Old Joe... and Simeon... they just have to die off before the Revelation of Mercy can come to pass.
We start with a simple "Hail Mary... Full of Grace" at her entrance after "Mercy Has No End", so here we add... "The Lord is with Thee" and go on with the next Mystery Sequence, and add more... etc.

And know that this is the last marker entry for what occurs at each Mystery Sequence Transition from here on out.
This is the best rendition of the origin of the Hail Kecharitomene that starts this whole show off we could think of using... its going to be exciting "Voctivizing" it into 12 parts, some of which are the musical frame & sound effects.
The concept of the EMANUEL coming to us in the flesh to set Israel free is intimately intertwined with The Magnificat Mary sings when Elizabeth greets her with her Blessed Art Thou Among Women, Blessed Be the Fruit of Thy Womb, and Mother of God sayings that make up the next few lines of the Prayer is the Prayer of the Holy Queen of Grace, because it defines for use who The Holy Queen of Grace truly is... and ultimately... we are a part of her on a cosmic, multi-personed spouse of the multi-personed Elohim of Genesis 3 who makes us clothes using animal skin... which we will find out in all five of the Sorrowful Mysteries (S1 - S5) is ultimately his animal skin... into which he binds us our collective Mercy into One Flesh with his own. Now that's an exciting concept... All of life is just learning how to experience being one with God, because we HELP MERCY ABOUND TO THE MAX, in a way that we can only replicate in a darkly reflected... yet highly ecstatic way... with each other... and then only for a relatively short duration... just imagine saying O! ... 4EVER!
